In this latest blog, let’s take a deeper insight into our refrigerant sensor for VRV/VRF applications.

Our British made Detector from Aquilar is designed to be maintenance free with an annual response test needed only.

Life time is expected to be 15 years.

A large number of projects are now going for VRV/VRF systems over traditional chilled/hot water systems. This now means refrigerant gas is travelling directly to the rooms. If the room is small and the condenser is large a significant dump of refrigerant gas could take place if there is a leak in the system.

Traditionally, low cost semi-conductor based sensors are used for refrigerant leak detection applications. While these are acceptable in setups resembling plant rooms, they should never be used in indoor spaces.

Constant false alarms from various gases are always a risk in indoor spaces. Smells from strong perfumes, spray & wipe cleaners, aerosols, VOCs from the fresh paint & furniture can all cause false alarms. This is the reason semi-conductor sensors are to be avoided at all costs.

AT-SRG

The AT-SRG has a flush mount housing and is developed to detect refrigerant gases in hotels and commercial buildings. The product technology is cost-effective and integrates a MPS sensor for gas detection. A 2 colour Red & Green LED placed on the sensor describes the detector status. An internal buzzer is activated when the pre-set alarm thresholds are reached or when the detector is in fault. The detector is developed in two versions: one powered at 12-24 VAC/VDC and one at 230 VAC. Each version has a normally open/normally closed relay contact output

A daisy chain controller to monitor all sensors is due to be released shortly.

The controller will inform you if a sensor is in alarm (Yes/No) and if its in fault/broken wiring.
